Old-Fashioned Split Pea

Treat yourself and someone special to a hearty bowl of delicious Split Pea Soup. This extraordinary combination tickles the senses with the subtle addition of fresh herbs and spices. The piping hot aroma of this delightful soup calms the winter chills and warms any heart. Makes 16 complete servings. Directions: In large sauce pan, add Split-peas (washed and drained) and vegetable packet, large ham hock or smoked turkey and 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced, to 3 quarts water. Cover. Bring to a boil and simmer 1 - 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally. Remove ham hock and dice meat. Return meat to soup and cook uncovered to desired consistency. Hint: Diced Ham can be added Ingredients: Split-peas, Herbs, Spices and salt. GLUTEN FREE

Pasta e Fagioli Soup

This rich, hearty, stick to your ribs soup is a tradition through out all of Italy. Pasta e Fagioli simply means Pasta & Beans.In keeping with my Italian heritage I felt it was important to share this wonderful recipe. I am sure this will become a family favorite! Makes 16 servings. Directions: Bring 10 cups of chicken broth to a boil. Add the vegetable spice packet and the beans. Slow boil for 45 minutes to 1 hour until the beans are tender and done. Add a 14.5 oz. can of diced whole tomatoes and the pasta. Boil approximately 10-14 minutes or until the pasta is done. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Serve hot. Soaking beans overnight may reduce your cooking time. Options: Chicken or vegetable base may be substituted. Chopped Ham or kielbasa may be added. Ingredients: Onion, garlic, celery, carrot, basil, oregano, red pepper, parsley and spices.

Prickly Pear: This refreshing & thirst-quenching cold drink is sure to become a family favorite. Makes 16 servings. TO PREPARE Mix 3 tablespoons to one cup cold water. Entire bag makes about 1 gallon. Always start with less water and increase to taste. This drink is also exceptionally delicious when served cold. Follow directions above and pour over ice. INGREDIENTS Sugar, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavors, FD&C Red #40.

Sausage and Lentil Soup

In keeping with the tradition of producing the finest of gourmet products, Old World Specialties brings you this delicious soup mix. This mix is made with only the finest ingredients that are fresh-dried to capture the best flavor possible. We are confident you will love this soup and it will become a family favorite. Makes 16 servings. Directions: In a large pot remove casing and brown 1 Lb of hot or mild Italian sausage (breaking up into small pieces). Drain off fat. In same pot add 12 cups of chicken broth and 2 cups of water. Bring to a slow boil. Add spice pack, lentils and one 28 oz. can of diced tomatoes. Slow boil from 30 to 45 minutes, stirring occasionally until lentils are tender. Options: Chicken base, low sodium chicken base or vegetable bouillon may be substituted. Ingredients: dehydrated vegetables to include onions, carrots and celery. Herbs and spices.

Southern Corn Chowder

Get ready for a southern taste sensation that is sure to please the most demanding pallet. Fresh-picked taste, creamy goodness and full-favored aroma will tickle the taste buds with delight. This gourmet soup can be prepared as a satisfying meal or a beginning course for a sumptuous buffet. Thirty minutes and you're ready for a little southern home-cooking. Delicious! Makes 12 servings. Directions: Add 8 cups of chicken broth to cooking pot. Bring to a boil. Add Corn along with the seasoning/rice packet and 2 peeled and diced potatoes. Bring to a boil. Cover and cook for 25 - 30 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and add 2 cups of half and half. Warm at a low temp if needed but do not boil. OPTIONS: Two cups of frozen cubed hash brown potatoes may be substituted. 2% milk or Fat-free Half & Half may be substituted. HINTS: For a great broth Old World recommends using a Chicken or Vegetable base when making our soup. Base is found in the soup section of your grocery store. Suggested additions: If desired add cooked chicken, shrimp, crab, sausage or bacon. Ingredients: Air-Freeze-Dried Corn, Rice, Dried Vegetables, Herbs. GLUTEN FREE

Ooooh! Get ready for a mouth-watering favorite! Our Ten Bean And Barley Soup is made from ten different beans with the wholesome flavor of real barley. Many compliments will be yours! Makes 16 delicious (and nutritious) servings Directions: Place contents of package in a large pot along with 16 cups of water. Add diced ham or ham hock. Cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 3 hours. Remove ham hock and cut ham from bone. Return Ham to pot and add 28 oz. canned crushed tomatoes. Options: 1 lb. kielbasa, smoked sausage, or 2 raw chicken breasts sliced. Simmer 1½ - 2 hours. Ingredients: Black-eyed Peas, Baby Lima Beans, Great Northern Beans, Pinto Beans, Red Kidney Beans, Yellow Split-peas, Lentils, Large Lima Beans, Green Split-peas, Black Beans, Barley & Herbs, Spices & salt.

Vanilla Chai Tea

Chai tea is a flavorful beverage enjoyed for centuries, especially in India. It’s brewed strong with spices, vanilla, and sugar. Served hot or iced, it brings comfort any time of day. TO PREPARE HOT CHAI: Mix 3 Tbl. of Chai tea with 6 oz. of very hot water. Serve and enjoy. ICED CHAI: Mix 3 Tbl. of Chai tea with 2 oz. of very hot water and stir rapidly. Pour over 8 oz. of ice, then add 2 oz. of cold water or milk. This drink is also exceptionally delicious when served cold. Follow directions above and pour over ice. INGREDIENTS Sugar, Nonfat Dry Milk, Creamer, Soybean Oil, Corn Syrup Solids, Green Tea, Honey Powder, Spices, Caramel Color, Natural flavors, Soybean Oil added for processing aid.

Wild Rice & Mushroom

Robust garden flavor comes to life in this delicious time-honored favorite. Real freeze-dried Mushrooms and Wild Rice deliver a tantalizing combination that satisfies the gourmet in everyone. Sure to be the favorite of all mushroom lovers. Cooks in just 30 minutes. Makes 10 sumptuous servings. Directions: Add 6 cups of chicken broth to cooking pot. Bring to a boil. Add mushrooms along with the seasoning/rice packet. Bring to a boil. Add ½ cup of diced celery if desired. Cook covered over medium heat for approx. 30 minutes. After rice and mushrooms are tender remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of half and half before serving. Warm at a low temp if needed but do not boil. Options: ½ cup dry cooking sherry may be added for additional flavor. 2% Milk may be substituted for Half & Half. HINTS: For a great broth Old World recommends using a Chicken or Vegetable base when making our soup. Base is found in the soup section of your grocery store.
